A 23-year-old Copperas Cove man was being held in the Coryell County Jail Friday, accused of beating his roommate while the two were on a job together mowing a lawn.
Trevor Dean Vaughn was being held on charges of assault causes bodily injury and a separate charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Cove police were called to the 500 block of Louise Street at 11:53 a.m. Thursday and met with a man who had injuries to his face.
He told police he and a co-worker had been working on a yard when he was suddenly attacked while he was trying to start a weed eater.
He told officers he was punched multiple times in the face with a closed fist, with his assailant getting on top of him and continuing to beat him until the victim was finally able push him off.
The assailant then left on foot.
An ambulance was called to the scene while officers looked for the assailant.
The police report indicates Vaughn was later found in the 400 block of Meggs Street and taken into custody.
Police say he gave a statement saying he only punched the victim in the face after ” he made him feel worthless.”
The victim told police Vaughn had recently moved into his residence, and during the booking process Vaughn said that he and the victim had begun a dating relationship.
