The man who was accused of trying to rob a Killeen man Tuesday but ended up being bitten by his dog has been booked into the Bell County Jail.

Trevor Leeray Saylors has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the case.

KPD Commander Alex Gearhart says it happened about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of South 2nd Street.

The victim had told police a man with a handgun tried to rob him, but he fought with him.

During the struggle the gun went off and the shot struck the tire of a nearby vehicle.

Things got worse for the attacker when the victim’s dog attacked him.

The suspect ran off but witnesses showed police where he had gone.

He was treated for the dog bite at the scene, taken to the Killeen city jail, and after the case was reviewed by the District Attorney, was charged and booked into the Bell County Jail.
