A 39-year-old man is now facing additional charges along with facing parole violations following an incident in which a woman was assaulted and a child was taken with the suspect when he fled.
Waco police were called to a residence in the 2700 block of Cumberland Avenue about 10:00 p.m. Thursday regarding an assault in progress.
When they arrived they found a female victim who had been punched and knocked down.
A suspect was fleeing with a one year old child in his vehicle.
Police initially began a pursuit but dropped the pursuit for safety reasons with the child in the car.
One of the officers knew who the assailant might be and went to a location where he believed he could be found.
39-year-old Vincent Resendez was taken into custody and taken to the McLennan County Jail on charges of assault, family violence, evading arrest with a motor vehicle and endangering a child, along with being held on the state parole violation warrant.

Resendez was on parole finishing out a sentence for a 2005 conviction for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver-cocaine.
He was paroled March 22,2016 and would have finished his parole in 2020.
The child was recovered uninjured.
