Copperas Cove police report a 31-year-old man has been arrested on charges of assault causing bodily injury after first trying to tell offices the victim had been in a fight with her sister.
Officers were sent to an apartment in the 500 block of Sunset Drive in Copperas Cove about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday after neighbors had reported a very loud domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived, they initially could not get anyone to come to the door.
After some delay, a man later identified as Paris Raynard Williams opened the door and acknowledged that he and his common law wife were indeed having an argument.
He then told officers that she had come home the night before after fighting with her sister and that he did not answer the door at first because she was going to tell officers he had injured her.
When officers spoke with the victim, they were told that while they were arguing, she had been knocked down on a bed and had been hit on the side of her face and the back of her head with a closed fist causing injuries.
WIlliams was arrested on the charges of assault causing bodily injury family violence and Friday morning remained in the Coryell County Jail.
