Waco police say a local man has been charged with the theft of clothing that had been donated to Central Texas Youth Services.

Richard Michael York was identified as one of the suspects in the theft from a storage unit at La Salle Self Storage at 1301 La Salle Avenue back on December 5, 2018.

The arrest affidavit filed in the case said that a representative of the storage company had reported that a black Chevy Impala with a man and woman inside had waited at the entrance gate for someone to leave so they could get past the passcode protected gate.

The representative said that he later discovered one of the storage sheds donated to Central Texas Youth Services for keeping their donations in had been burglarized.

Witnesses provided information that they had watched a man in a Chevy Impala placing clothing into the car and were able to provide a license plate number.

Surveillance video showed the car arriving at the entrance gate shortly before the burglary.

Video also showed the suspect walking through the area appearing to case it.

Police say a woman with him was seen going into the office to ask about renting storage space and picking up property for a friend.

Following an investigation and a sequential photo lineup provided for witnesses, police obtained a warrant and picked up York.
