A man has entered a plea to charges he set a fire that damaged the Midway High School ag barn facility on Panther Way back in 2014 and has been give probation with a catch.

Trenton Andrew Ortner was sentenced to five years deferred adjudication probation, which means if he makes the probationary period without a problem, there will be no record of the offense.

He was not assessed a fine, but was ordered to pay $12,629 in damage restitution.

Two storage sheds containing feed and hay were burned in the July 31, 2014 fire that was determined to have been arson.

Ortner was arrested in Bell County the next month and sent back to McLennan County to face the charges
