McGregor Police say a truck hit and killed a man on Highway 317 and then drove off.
26-year-old Kayn Kemp was walking to work on Thursday night when it happened.
Kayn’s wife Cayla says he was an amazing father and husband, and that whoever did this needs to step up and come forward.
“I know that their dad loves them more than he loves himself. More than he loves this Earth. So much. He loves them so much,” Cayla says.
Cayla is looking for answers after a truck, seen on surveillance video, killed her husband.
“His backpack was on the ground. You could see car parts all on the ground. Honestly, it was probably one of the most traumatic experiences I’ve ever had,” Cayla says.
It happened on Thursday night around 9:40 p.m. Kayn gave his wife a kiss goodbye and started his walk to work. It was a walk he did every day off of Highway 317 in McGregor.
But during that walk, that’s when the truck came out of nowhere.
“The force was so strong that it broke the straps off and an even break. His headphones were broken off like the earpieces. His body was thrown 150 meters forward,” Cayla says.
McGregor Police say the truck is described as a 2005 to 2008 white Ford F-150. They say it drove off after the crash. Moments later, it was seen on surveillance video by a nearby business.
“Like, if you would’ve just said, ‘Hey’ and admitted your fault to me and said, ‘I’m so sorry for your loss and that I took his life.’ I would so understand, and I would be so much more grateful to you,” Cayla says.
Cayla says she wants whoever is responsible to come forward and give them the closure the family needs.
“Being in the wrong is hard for people to admit, but this is something you have to. He has two kids that are being raised fatherless. We at least deserve some type of closure,” Cayla says.
