Mexia police report equipment seizures and arrests as their officers assisted by Groesbeck officers raided two locations suspected of conducting gambling operations.
The investigation and raids were conducted by those city’s Joint Criminal Apprehension Team with further help from the Limestone County District Attorney’s office.
About 9:00 p.m. Friday, members of the team hit locations on East Milam Street and on State Highway 14 South, finding 37 gambling machines at the first location and 17 at the second.
Charges ranging from misdemeanors up through felonies are being considered for those arrested.
Mexia Police Chief Brian Bell said the dedication of investigative officers and the help of Groesbeck for manpower will be used to insure illegal businesses will not be able to operate within the city.
