The Baylor Lady Bears are back in Waco after a wild weekend in Tampa, Florida.
The National Champions were greeted Monday afternoon with a huge welcome back ceremony at the Ferrell Center.
“This has been a long and great four years for me, ya’ll are the best fans in the country, thank you so much, I’m honored to have played in front of you,” said Kalani Brown, Center.
Brown, together with the rest of the team made history on Sunday.
“Coaches can coach a lifetime and never win a championship, coaches can try every year to have great team chemistry, they can lead them and guide them but sometimes you just get a group of girls where you sit back and go, ‘they got it’,” said Head Coach Kim Mulkey.
The fans were thrilled to be able to celebrate their Lady Bear team.
“It’s such a great, neat group of girls and you can see that and I think that’s what makes a good basketball team, they are all together, it’s not a one person show and that’s what I think makes them such a good team,” said Dianne Scott, Lady Bears fan for 18 years.
“Thank you guys for the great season and for bringing this excitement to Waco, baylor, and the fans, and just great job,” said Alexandra Donnell, Baylor University Sudent.
Bringing the NCAA victory back home.
“We’re so proud to have you, you’ve brought honor to your university, and you’ve brought honor to the city of waco, so thank you all very much,” said Mayor Kyle Deaver, City of Waco.
