New Waco councilman named to fill Wilbert Austin’s term

The Waco city council voted Tuesday night to appoint Noah Jackson, Jr to fill the one year unexpired term for City Council District 1 following the resignation of Reverend Wilbert Austin.

Mr. Jackson was chosen from an original pool of 15 applicants.  

After three dropped out, council members interviewed five of the applicants on June 6th and the other seven Tuesday night.

Jackson is a long time friend and campaign worker for Wilbert Austin and had worked with him on many of his projects.

He will be formally sworn in at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20th at the start of the regularly scheduled city council work session
