Various law enforcement agencies report numerous accidents on slick roads as first freezing rain, then snow, came to Central Texas Sunday afternoon and evening.
Most resulted in just property damage and minor injuries as drivers were surprised by icy patches on roads and bridges.
One of the more serious accidents occurred in Hill County near Whitney Sunday afternoon.
That one was reported at 4:46 p.m. on Highway 22 near Toewash Creek east of Whitney and involved three vehicles.
Multiple patients were taken to area hospitals with at least one being trapped.
Whitney and Peoria Fire Departments along with the Department of Public Safety and Hill County deputies responded and the jaws of life were used to extricate one of the passengers.
DPS troopers were investigating possible charges resulting from the accident.
