Smoke seen coming from the Temple Daughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport Thursday afternoon will be the result of a planned, controlled burn.

Temple Fire and Rescue will be conducting what is called a ” prescribed burn” between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. at the airport in the 7700 block of Airport Road.

About 117 acres will be involved and will all be within the airport perimenter and will consist of two smaller burns, one after the other.

The prescribed burn will removed grass ad dead plant buildup and is occurring in advance of the Central Texas Airshow held at the airport next month.
