A Rockdale family is demanding justice after a child was allegedly beaten to death this week.
Patricia Ann Rader was allegedly killed by 30-year-old Shawn Vincent Boniello while under his care Monday night. Rader was 20-months-old.
Family say Rader was better known as Annie because of her smile. For Rader’s aunt, Rachel Bond, she never thought thanksgiving would be the last time she’d see her happy niece.
“The focus is on Annie and the fact that she is not here,” Bond said. “The focus here now is- let’s get justice for Annie.”
Bond and her family are still coming to terms she’ll never be able to hold her niece again.
“She just had the cutest personality. She was just the sweetest thing,” Bond said. “It has been the hardest thing. It was been the hardest thing in the world. You just can’t even imagine.”
Rader’s family say the little girl was allegedly beaten while under Boniello’s care in Rockdale around 5:45 p.m. Monday night. Boniello now being charged with capital murder.
Bond heard the news from her brother while she was out of town.
“I finally was able to hear [my brother] clearer, that Annie had died and I just collapsed to the floor. I mean, it was just a nightmare,” Bond said.
Family say Rader almost died at birth, now calling her a fighter forever.
“For all this to happen. For a little girl that fought so hard to have a life and be as sweet and kind and everything that she was. It was a miracle,” Bond said.
The family is now broken knowing this holiday season was the last time she will hold her niece.
“I know that day was the prettiest day for a Thanksgiving. The weather was just perfect,” Bond said. “I know for me to know that that was the last time I was going to spend with her it was a perfect day.”
The family has set funeral services at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on Dec. 10. The time is yet to be set.
A GoFundMe has been created to cover funeral costs.
