A former employee at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department facility in Mart has been sentenced to five years deferred adjudication probation and fined $1500 after entering a plea to civil rights charges connected with sexual activity with a TDCJ client.
Brittany Harty had been held in the McLennan County Jail on a charge of violation of civil rights, and was indicted on the charges by a McLennan County grand jury in July 2017.
A spokesman for TJJD said that Harty had gone to work at the facility in Mart January 1, 2017 and resigned May 27, 2017 as an investigation into the activity was begun.
When she resigned she held the position of Juvenile Correctional Officer 2.
The spokesman confirmed that the victim was on probation at the time of the alleged sexual activity and that it occurred at a private residence.
