Space Exploration Technologies Corporation which operates its test facility at McGregor has been awarded a $297-million dollar contract for three satellite launchings.
Two will be for launching satellites for the National Reconnaissance Office whose operations are generally classified, and one will be for the Air Force Space Command.
The government announcement said the launch service contract will include launch vehicle production, mission integration, mission launch operations and spaceflight worthiness and mission unique activities for each mission.
The three launches will take place at two different locations, Cape Canaveral, Florida and Vandenburg Air Force Base in California.
SpaceX won the contracts by competitive bid.
