Waco’s Sunshine Recovery House held a fundraiser this past Saturday, with the money raised going towards the purchase and renovation of a new recovery house.
Of the group’s $300,000 goal, $25,000 was raised – in addition to $225,000 already raised.
Sunshine Recovery House Founder Summer Shine says it is key for recovering addicts to live in a sober living community, as it increases their chances of long-term sobriety by 75 percent.
Shine also says she is proud of the way the Waco community has rallied in support.
“This community has suited up and showed up, and just really been there to support us. And we are so grateful and overwhelmed by the outpouring of love,“ Shine says.
