Temple traffic stop leads to drug seizure

A Killeen man is now in the Bell County Jail after police discovered marijuana and methamphetamine in his possession.

A Temple Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a black Mercedes around 11:44 p.m. on March 18. The vehicle was being driven without headlights in the 300 block of West Central Avenue.

The officer made contact with the driver, identified as 50-year-old Billie Ray Anspach. The officer asked and was given permission to search Anspach’s person and his vehicle.

During the search of the vehicle, the officer found a clear plastic baggie containing 18.7 grams of marijuana.

Anspach was arrested and transported to Bell County Jail, where jail staff located additional narcotics on his person. The suspect was found to have a total of 1.4 grams of methamphetamine.
