Theft becomes robbery with threats

Local

College Station police say what would have been a theft was bumped up to being handled as a robbery after threats allegedly were made at a College Station grocery store.

It happened just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the HEB at 1900 Texas Avenue in College.

During their investigation police learned that several items of merchandise totaling over $175 had been gathered in a large bag with two women then trying to leave the store without paying.

After being confronted by HEB employees outside the store,  police say one of the women began threatening to fight and injure the employees.

When officers arrived on the scene they say both women attempted to leave, however both were taken into custody.

Twenty-eight-year-old Tanya Albrecht of Bryan was arrested and charged with robbery.

Thirty-year-old Becky Ann Ramirez of Bryan was arrested and charged with evading arrest, theft of property and was also determined to be named in a Bryan municipal court warrant.
