The Department of Public safety reports a crash that left three people dead took place as Chevy Suburban crashed head on into a Volkswagen Jetta while passing two vehicles on Highway 6 in Bosque County
The crash occurred at 7:20 p.m. with all of the dead in the Jetta.
DPS spokesman Sgt D.L. WIlson says the crash occurred 3.5 miles north of Valley Mills as a 2004 traveling northbound began passing, entering a no passing zone before the crash.
The 2008 Jetta was southbound and attempted to avoid collision by moving onto the southbound shoulder.
The collision occurred on the shoulder.
The occupants of the Jetta were identified as 20-year-old Diego Heredia of Valley Mills, the driver, along with passengers 19-year-old Taylor Bradley, of Clifton, and 17-year-old Griffin Anderson, of Clifton.
The driver of the Suburban, identified as 32-year-old Christopher Lee Berry of Clifton, was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco and was listed in serious condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
Clifton Police Chief Hendricks has issued a statement saying they were members of the Clifton community.
The crash is still under investigation and DPS was expected to release information later Friday.
Chief Hendricks noted in his statement that ” our community will come together and lean on each other, providing strength and compassion as we honor the lives of these you people who have left this earth.”
