Little was left of a trailer Friday morning that caught fire and launched aerosol cans both ways across I-35 at Belton earlier in the morning.

City of Belton spokesman Paul Romer said the alarm was turned in at 3:45 as the truck that had been northbound on the Interstate caught fire on the Central Avenue bridge.

No one was hurt in the incident and though the trailer was totally destroyed,  the driver was able to disconnect the truck tractor and get it clear before the trailer became engulfed.

The truck was carrying a load of Axe deodorant and as the trailer burned,  the cans exploded and were launched across the roadway.

The main lanes of the interstate were closed,  but south bound lanes were opened about 8:00 a.m.

Northbound lanes remained closed to allow environmental cleanup of the area.
