UPDATE: Texas DPS says all northbound lanes reopened shortly after 1pm, Monday.
One truck driver was seriously injured and I-35 northbound was expected to be closed several hours after a fiery crash that occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. Monday.
DPS spokesman Ryan Howard said one semi carrying an unidentified hazardous material in barrels was parked unoccupied on the side of the road near Tokio Road near West when it was hit by another semi going north.
Both trucks burst into flames.
The driver of the truck that had been in motion was airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
Hazardous material contractors were working to clean up the mess left by the crash with the main lanes expected to be closed until at least 2 p.m.
Northbound traffic was being diverted onto the access roads with delays expected for northbound traffic as long as the cleanup was underway.
