Two in jail after drug bust

Two people are in jail after Mexia Police find drugs and a firearm inside of a vehicle.

Police responded to a Suspicious Persons call on the 500 block of W Commerce Street on Monday night.

An officer was informed upon arrival that one person entered a residence without authorization. The officer got a description of the person, and the suspect was located with another individual in a field near the residence. Both suspects were heavily intoxicated and detained.

Moments later, the suspect’s vehicle was located up the street on the 600 Block of W Commerce Street. During the investigation, over four ounces of marijuana, over 28 grams of a controlled substance and an unlawful firearm were discovered inside the vehicle.

Both suspects were then taken into custody and escorted to the Limestone County Jail, where they were both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Public Intoxication.

In addition, one subject was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon and Burglary of a Habitation.
