University High School student diagnosed with tuberculosis

The Waco Independent School District was informed by the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District about a student from University High School being diagnosed with tuberculosis.

This student is currently undergoing treatment. It is believed the possibility of tuberculosis being transferred to students or staff at University High is minimal.

The district has been working closely with the Health District since receiving this notification. Direct facilities where any exposure are believed to have occurred have been thoroughly cleaned and disenfected out of caution.

Certain students and staff members will receive tuberculosis testing at no charge. Those who need to be screened will receive a letter from the Health District with further instructions.
