A new judge is needed for the sexual assault trial of Shawn Oakman.

19th District Court Judge Ralph Strother recused himself as jury selection was scheduled to start on Monday morning.

The McLennan County District Attorney’s Office says once a new judge is picked, jury selection will start back up.

Oakman is accused of assaulting a woman he met at a night club after asking her to go with him to his home in 2016.

In his arrest affidavit, police say Oakman admitted having sex with the woman – but thinking it was consensual.
