UPDATE: Teen’s stepmom speaks on Copperas Cove accident

Local

More details are emerging about the crash injuring three Copperas Cove band students last Friday.

FOX44 spoke with the stepmother of one of the teens who told us the three were making a left turn onto FM-580 when their truck stalled and another truck slammed into them.

14-year-old Kenneth Curley was sitting in the middle of the two other students and was thrown out of the open back window and onto the road.

A 16-year-old student is still recovering in the hospital, and a 15-year-old has been released. Curley’s stepmom, Tammy Callison, says she is grateful for the community’s support.

“I just want to say thank you to everybody for the prayers, the thoughts, every little thing that anybody has done has meant the world to us as a family,” Callison says.

Curley suffered from a fractured vertebrae and pelvis, bruised lungs, a broken arm and a broken knee.
Callison says they are looking at months of recovery.
