Waco church to help Franklin community

Volunteers from the Family of Faith Worship Center give out free groceries Friday at the Village Apartment complex to anyone in need.

“We love to be in the community. We love giving back. We basically tell people to come and recieve their blessing,” says Senior Pastor Ruben Andrade.

They are also getting ready to serve the people of Franklin on Saturday – one week after a tornado destroyed part of the town.

“Seeing what happened in Franklin, we just felt compelled to go and do what we know we’ve been called to do and that is to serve out neighbors,” Andrade says.

While there, church volunteers will be giving out fresh fruits and vegetables, water and hygeine packets while also serving a hot meal.

Lowe’s is partnering with the church to build a new roof for a storm victim.

“Why I really wanted to go is to show people out there that there is other people who care no matter what you’re going through. Even though we’re in different cities, we just want to show that we care,” says volunteer Chris Andrade.

The church is still looking for volunteers, especially people with roofing experience and construction supplies.

The pastor says they couldn’t have done all of this without the help from the community. He says many businesses and other churches have donated to their cause so they are able to give out so much.
