Members of the Waco Fire Department are hitting major intersections in Waco from Thursday through Saturday for their annual Fill the Boot campaign.
This is all part of a partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Their goal is to raise as much money as possible to help free kids and adults from the harm of Muscular Dystrophy, ALS and other related diseases which weaken muscle strength and mobility.
“We enjoy doing it, and we love to serve our community and serve the public and help the kids. That’s what we are here for. When we are not out fighting fires or wrecks, we’re here to help whoever we can,” says Waco Fire Department Engineer Michael Robertson.
Funds raised will help families with support groups and care centers, as well as give over 30 local kids the chance to experience a great weekend at MDA Summer Camp at no cost to their families.
The campaign raised over $57,000 in 2017. The department hopes to beat this number in 2018.
