Waco ISD Police Chief Ken Boatman has resigned from his position, effective Friday.
Boatman was placed on administrative leave with pay on January 19, while the district’s Human Resources Department investigated allegations related to an inappropriate work environment.
Last month, the district received two anonymous complaints regarding Boatman’s interactions with another employee in his department. Human Resources quickly determined the anonymous allegations could not be substantiated.
However, in the process of investigating these allegations, employees expressed other concerns about Boatman’s leadership and the department’s work environment. At this time, Boatman was placed on administrative leave with pay.
The District received additional complaints about his leadership.
Earlier this week, Boatman was provided with a summary of the complaints and given an opportunity to respond. Boatman denied the allegations. He also submitted his resignation, effective February 2.
Lieutenant David Williams has been serving as the acting police chief while Boatman was on leave. He will continue to serve in this role following Boatman’s resignation.
Fox 44 reached out to Ken Boatman through Facebook for comment and as of Friday he has not replied.
