Waco man killed in Coryell Co crash

Local

The Department of Public Safety has confirmed that 38-year-old Miten Patel of Waco was killed in a head on crash Thursday night in Coryell County.

DPS spokesman Dave Roberts says the crash occurred about 10:50 p.m. on State Highway 36 about a mile and a half south of the community of Flat.

Troopers say that Patel was the driver of a 2015 Toyota passenger car that was going west when a 2016 Dodge SUV that was going east drifted onto the wrong side of the road and hit the Toyota head on.

Patel was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge was identified as 32 year old Cory Ruiz of Gatesville who was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with what have been described as non life threatening injuries.

The DPS reports the crash remains under investigation.
