This week marks National Public Health Week, and the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District has some activities planned!
Each day, a public health program will be highlighted with a Community Health Extravaganza on Friday, April 5 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Health District’s office, located at 225 W. Waco Drive. There will be activities and information for people visiting the Health District on their many programs and guests from the City of Waco Fire Department, the Family Health Center and the Nurse-Family Partnership.
A 2019 healthy soul food cooking demonstration and Health Fair will take place on Saturday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Waco Multipurpose Center, located at 1020 Elm Avenue. The event will feature local chefs Sheri Raleigh-Yearby, Delsia Contreras and Natasha Young Jorman creating healthy versions of soul food classics. This event is co-sponsored by the Waco Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
