Waco police say that an investigation into a toddler found wandering in an apartment parking lot has resulted in arrests on drug and other charges.
About 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Waco police got a call to the Wood Hollow Apartments at 4502 Lake Shore Drive where a citizen had found a two year old boy out wandering around by himself.
Officers responding eventually located a brother of the child and learned that another brother and the child’s mother all shared an apartment in the complex.
Waco Police spokesman Patrick Swanton said that while checking the apartment police found two handguns that would have been accessible to the child along with marijuana stashed in a baby stroller.
A further search resulted in additional drugs including methamphetamine, heroin edible marijuana Gummy Bears and drug paraphernalia.
Officers found that the toddler had access to real Gummy Bears that were located near the marijuana Gummy Bears in the apartment.
Arrested were the child’s mother, 38-year-old Rosa Laura Galindo and the child’s brothers, 18-year-old Osvaldo Aaron Ramirez and 22-year-old Tomas Jecel Ramirez, all being charged with abandoning or endangering a child.
Rosa Galindo was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and held on outstanding traffic warrants.
Tomas Ramirez also had outstanding traffic warrants.
Police say that the toddler was taken to the police station by victim services staff and later released to his uncle.
Child Protective Services was also notified.
