A McLennan County woman has been arrested by sheriff’s deputies on charges she tried to set a China Spring area home on fire early Monday morning.

An arrest affidavit says deputies got a call at 12:37 a.m. Monday regarding a disturbance in the 200 block of Bedrock Trail,  with the caller initially saying that his ex-girlfriend, later identified as Brandie Denise Stephens also known as McClendon was at his house threatening to shoot up the place.

When law enforcement personnel were going to the scene, they made contact with a woman just down the road from the address.

When she was identified, she was first taken into custody for misdemeanor warrants out of Waco.

When they got to the house and made contact with the caller, they were shown where lighter fluid had been  sprayed on the front porch and in front of a bedroom window on the ground.

The affidavit said statements were taken from the caller and his current girlfriend who said they saw a woman spraying lighter fluid and trying to light it with a lighter.

Deputies arrested her on a charge of attempted arson with intent to damage a habitation, which is a second degree felony, and took her to the McLennan County Jail.

Her bond was set at $25,000
