A driver flees from police after a routine traffic stop.

An officer with the College Station Police Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle after he observed the passenger not wearing her seat belt. This occurred at the intersection of Rock Prairie Road and Longmire Drive on Tuesday afternoon.

When the officer activated his emergency lights, the vehicle fled south on Longmire Drive. The officer did not initiate a pursuit, but informed other officers of the vehicle’s description.

Another officer was patrolling south of this location and observed the vehicle in the area of Longmire Drive and Eagle Avenue. The officer checked the area and located the vehicle parked in a driveway in the 1700 block of Purple Martin Cove.

The officer found the driver fled the car on foot and left three passengers behind. After a short search of the area, the driver was located approximately 100 yards west of the vehicle at the intersection of Purple Martin Cove and Starling Drive.

21-year-old Kayana Toole of College Station was positively identified as the driver by the initial officer and all three passengers. Toole was taken into custody for Evading in a Vehicle and an unrelated warrant.
