A 41-year old man is facing multiple charges after police investigated an incident in which a woman was beaten in front of her thirteen-year-old child.
However, Steven Eugene Belville is facing some of those charge for incidents that occurred when police tried to take him into custody.
Officers first got the case following a June 20 incident that occurred in the 300 block of North Valley Mills Drive where the woman was punched in the face and the head and pulled by her hair in the vehicle.
Police investigated the case and obtained and arrest warrant for Belville.
Then Wednesday, an assistant chief with the Waco Police Department spotted a car in West Waco with Belville in it.
An attempt was made to stop the car, but it sped off and a pursued began. At one point, the woman in the car bailed out when it slowed and the man inside fled.
He was finally taken into custody in the 900 block of North Valley Mills Drive.
Belville was booked into the McLennan County Jail on charges of continuous violence against a family member, evading arrest with a motor vehicle, evading arrest on foot and after a search, additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
