Copperas Cove police investigating an incident of injury to a child have found that their suspect was also wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred last December.
Shannon Renee Watkins was arrested on the injury charge in connection with an incident reported to police on May 5.
Officers were sent to a location in the 2100 block of Miles in reference to an assault.
Police were told that a woman, later identified as Watkins, had gone to a home to visit with their children who were in custody of a third party guardian.
When the children did not want to go with her, she was accused of grabbing one of the children by the hair and throwing her into a room.
When the children’s guardian intervened, the guardian was assaulted.
Watkins fled the area before police arrived and warrants were obtained for injury to a child and assault causing injury, family violence.
When Watkins was arrested Wednesday, it was determined that there was an outstanding robbery warrant out for her in connection with an incident that occurred at the Family Dollar store on December 22, 2018 at 524 Town Square in Copperas Cove.
Police were called to that location after a woman, later identified as Watkins, was accused of taking items and concealing them in a bag.
When a store employee attempted to stop her from leaving the store without paying, she fought with the employee, then escaped.
Because force was used, the theft charge became upgraded to a robbery charge.
