Woman charged with Temple assault

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested on charges she participated in a March 9 attack that sent a man to the hospital and during which shots were fired.

Temple Police spokesman Cody Weems said Ashley Nicole Sutton-Boyd was arrested by another agency after Temple police got a warrant naming her in charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Spokesman Weems said on March 9, officers had responded to the 3900 block of Valley View Drive on a report of a disturbance.

Arriving officers found a man inside a garage who was at first reluctant to open the door.

When he came out, officers noticed he had blood on his face and blood running down his arm.

He told officers that five men had come to beat him up and that shots were fired in the garage.

When he opened the door he thought it was the resident owner returning, but it was not.

He told officers that he did not know who the men were.

He was then taken to Baylor Scott and White Hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

During the course of thei investigation, officers developed as a suspect Sutton-Boyd in connection with the use of the firearm and obtained the arrest warrant.
