A Waco woman has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for shooting a man in the face.

The trial of Tyjuana Chante Curry had gotten underway in 19th District Court when she decided to plead guilty.

She entered the guilty plea without an agreed plea deal and was  sentenced to 35 years in prison.

She remained in the McLennan County Jail Friday pending transfer to the state prison system.

Curry had been accused of the February 7, 2016 shooting of Demarcus Tremayne Simon. 

He was shot while sitting in his car after Curry had pulled alongside.

Simon suffered serious injuries leaving him disfigured.

Simon had been in a dispute with Curry’s son earlier as a group of friends watched the Super Bowl and had punched Curry’s son in the face.
