I-35 Southbound traffic was diverted for a time in the Belton area after a truck carrying 120 head of cattle overturned.
The crash occurred just after 5:00 a.m. near the 290 mile post with southbound traffic taken off the main lanes at Loop 121 and allowed to return at Shanklin Road, resulting in some delay.
The Belton Police Department is investigating what caused the tractor trailer filled with cattle to leave southbound I-35 and overturn on an embankment between the interstate and frontage road.
The accident resulted in the death of two of the cattle.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
The driver was transporting cattle from an auction to a cattle ranch in Williamson County.
