TEMPLE, Texas – UPDATE: The Temple Police Department has identified nine-year veteran Officer Carmen DeCruz as the police officer involved in the shooting death of Michael Dean, last Monday, December 2nd.

Texas Rangers remain the lead investigatory agency on this incident.

An officer-involved shooting has shut down traffic in Temple.

Temple Police Department officers are on scene at SE H.K. Dodgen Loop and Little River Road. They say they received a call at 8:12 p.m.

All traffic in the area is being diverted, and the department is saying to please avoid the area. They say there is no public threat.
