A 19-year-old man from Splendora in Montgomery County was being held in the Brazos County Jail Monday, accused of breaking into a College Station home and assaulting the occupants.
Zachary Tyler Jackson was being charged with burglary of a habittion with intent to commit assault, a second degree felony.
Police say they were called to the 300 block of Newcomb Lane at 2:35 a.m. Sunday on a report of a burglary, with callers saying someone they knew was forcing his way into their home.
Officers arrived quickly and were able to detain Jackson at the scene.
Police say their investigation indicated the suspect was an acquaintance of the residents and was upset with them after a dispute over relationships.
They said the suspect kicked a door open and began pushing and striking multiple people inside.
The occupants received minor injuries from the assault and were evaluated by College Station Fire Department paramedics, then refused further medical treatment.
The suspect was also injured as the residents defended themselves and was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries before being taken to jail.
