Bryan police say that a man has been found an arrested, charged with leaving the scene of an accident that caused heavy damage to a concrete utility pole.
Thirty-year-old Marvin Roberto Torres Cortez of Bryan that jail records say is also known as Marvin Roberto Cortez-Torres was booked into the Brazos County Jail early New Years Day on charges of driving while intoxicated with blood alcohol level above ,15, failure to stop and leave information at a collision and was named in an immigration hold.
Bryan police say the crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. in the 2200 block of Finfeather Road.
A witness reported to police that a black Dodge pickup had left the roadway and struck the pole near the intersection of Finfeather and Cottage Grove.
The driver fled on foot abut officers were able to find him in the area.
Damage to the utility pole caused it to break and lean toward the lanes of traffic, with officers blocking all traffic lanes on Finfeather until the pole was secured and the pickup removed.
Traffic was allowed to resume using the road just before 2:00 a.m.
The utility company estimated the damage to the concrete pole at $30,000.
