A 36-year-old man has been arrested in California and brought back to Bell County to face charges of having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl.
Lawrence Anthony Spann was arrested by officers in Fontana, California back on December 30 when he was found to have the outstanding Texas arrest warrant in the case.
Temple police had gotten the case back in March of 2018 when a man came into the police station lobby to say he suspected Spann had been having sexual contact with his step daughter.
The man filing the report also said he had checked the child’s cell phone and saw messages between Spann and the stepdaughter that were sexual in nature.
The case was turned over to detectives and once the investigation was complete an arrest warrant was issued.
By that time, Spann who listed an address in Sahuarita, Arizona, was no longer in the area.
Then just before the New Year, he was stopped in California, the warrant was confirmed and the process of having him shipped back to face charges was begun.
