Man charged with having gun in bar

College Station police say a 21-year-old Houston man was arrested after officers were told a man with a gun was causing problems in a bar, where weapons are prohibited.

Police were called to The Backyard at 303 University Drive at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday to find that those running the establishment had been successful in kicking him out.

As officers checked the area they located a man matching the description they had been given sitting in a car parked in a nearby parking lot.

They made contact with him and discovered he had a handgun in his jacket pocket.

Witnesses inside the bar identified the man as the person who had the gun inside, and were even able to describe where he had been carrying it.

Police identified the man as 21-year-old Raman Ghimire of Houston and determined that he did not have a concealed carry permit.

He was taken to the Brazos County Jail and booked in on a charge of ulawfully carrying a weapon in a premises licsed for the sale of alcoholic beverages,  which is a third degree felony punishable by two to ten years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.
