Man hiding in ceiling charged with damaging office building

News

A 32-year-old Harker Heights man was being held in the Bell County Jail on charges he damaged a Killeen office building after he was found hiding above the ceiling.

Andrew James Rackley is accused of causing over $2,500 damage to the Killeen One Center in the incident that played out on Tuesday.

Officers were called to Killeen One Center at 1711 East Central Texas Expressway about 1:30 p.m. on a trespassing complaint. When they got there, they were told there was a man above the ceiling.

As officers began searching through the offices, they heard a loud commotion and located the suspect on the floor after he fell through the ceiling.

Rackley was taken into custody and initially charged with criminal mischief for the damage he did to ceiling tiles and air conditioning ducts. Police did not know how long he was in the building or exactly what he was doing there.

Police said he told them he thought he was being followed and someone was watching him. Bond for Rackley was set at $40,000.
