A McGregor man’s display of Christmas lights is getting national attention.
“I enjoy it. It’s a labor a love,” says Roger Schmidt.
Schmidt started decorating his home with big displays in the early 2000’s.
What started out as a small “Merry Christmas” sign on the fence has turned into nearly 360,000 lights and dozens of decorations covering his home.
“And it’s like every other Christmas display,” Schmidt said. “Lights are mesmerizing. It’s captivating. They draw people in. You can’t help but enjoy it and be happy. It’s that time of the year. And it’s a great place to enjoy that Christmas spirit.”
About seven years ago, Schmidt started collecting donations outside of his home for Fuzzy Friends Rescue.
