McLennan Co. Sheriff conducts emergency animal seizure

The McLennan County Sheriff’s Department conducted an emergency seizure at 2414 Bend of the Bosque Road in China Spring.

Deputies say at least four horses and four cows were found dead. More than 20 horses and several calves seized.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, some of the horses ran away to a nearby pasture in order to eat grass. All of them are malnourished, some had ribs showing.

Livestock trailers showed up to pick up the malnourished horses and calves left on the property.

Sheriff Parnell McNamara did not want to comment on possible charges, but did say the animals will now be safe and treated by vets before a judge decides where they will go next.
