The Red Cross provided assistance to nine people left homeless by an early morning fire in Belton.
Belton firefighters were called to the Belle Oaks Apartments on Shady Lane about 5:00 a.m. Monday.
Firefighters say the fire apparently started in the living room of one of the apartments, though the exact cause has not been determined.
There were people home at the time of the fire, but all got out safely.
Fire damage was mostly confined to one unit, but three suffered smoke and some water damage.
