A traffic violation led to a traffic stop and the discovery of marijuana and prescription pills and the arrest of one man by Woodway police.
The incident occurred Tuesday on Highway 84 near Poage when the Woodway officer noticed a car change lanes without signaling, then as the officer ran a check on the license plate discovered there was no valid insurance on the car.
As the officer interviewed the driver, he noticed several pill bottles in the back seat that did not appear to belong to the driver.
The officer asked for permission to search the vehicle, which was denied.
At that point the officer called for a K-9 to be brought to the scene and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle.
When the dog alerted, it gave the officers probable cause to search the vehicle.
It was then that they found just under three pounds of marijuana in the vehicle along with numerous hydrocodone and Diazepam pills with not prescription.
It was also determined that the driver had an outstanding arrest warrant for driving while license invalid.
Darrell Lamont Ervin was then arrested and taken to the McLennan County Jail.
