Pursuit and crash under investigation

News

A Thursday afternoon pursuit through Waco streets ended up with a crash and two people injured and one man in handcuffs.

The Department of Public Safety is the lead agency in the case, but a spokesman says no information can be released because the investigation is ongoing.

Initial reports indicated the driver fleeing officers had at one point been going the wrong way on one side of Waco Drive, with the chase then going up 25th Street, across Bosque and Homan, then back along parts of 26th and 27th streets until ending at 26th Street and Grim Avenue.

In the report on their response to the accident Waco Fire personnel reported one vehicle had front end damage, the other had been hit in the side.

First responders reported one patient was sitting in a car and the other was sitting on the curb in handcuffs.

The DPS spokesman would not confirm the name of the fleeing driver or confirm that he was in jail.
