Salvation Army Community Kitchen planning Thanksgiving Day feast

The Salvation Army Community Kitchen is getting ready for a big Thanksgiving Day feast this Thursday.

Volunteers will serve a meal to hundreds of people from 11 am till 1 pm.

The Salvation Army says they only need volunteers and bell ringers for Friday and the weekend, not on Thursday.

But they do need cake and pie donations, as well as table cloths.

Those interested in volunteering must sign up online by emailing to or calling at 254 -756- 7271.

Major Jim Taylor with the organization says, “People that are coming to eat with us on Thanksgiving Day have nowhere else to go and yet they deserve the opportunity to have a family dinner.”

The community kitchen on Webster Avenue serves meals 365 days a year, including holidays.
